Today, following a recommendation from our friends at Elton Hall Care Home, we took Trixie Trishaw to Hardwick Park in Sedgefield to find out if the cycle route around the park was accessible for the trishaw.

We took our time riding around the park, making sure to follow the cycle route. However, we hit a bit of an issue with an incline which was a bit challenging for Trixie (and the pilot), so we had a word with the Site Manager about the possibility of using the pedestrian track for a very short section of the ride to enable us to safely manoeuvre around the whole park and, thankfully, he agreed.

Following our chat, we took the trishaw around the park again to ensure that this new, modified route would be accessible. We are pleased to report that it was and we now have another approved trishaw route around a local park.

Hardwick Park is an excellent park to ride or walk around. It has good views of the hotel and lake, the paths are mostly level, there is a mix of woodland and open areas for picnic’s and they also have a cafe on-site with outside seating.

It is such a lovely park to ride around. We rode around several times and are now looking forward to sharing the experience with some passengers in the future. It really is an excellent place for those ‘WIND IN YOUR HAIR’ moments.
