On Sunday 3rd July, Trixie Trishaw took part in the 10th Stockton Cycling Festival Family Fun Ride in Stockton on Tees.

The cycling festival in Stockton offers elite racing opportunities as well as fun family rides for all of the community to get involved. On Sunday afternoon at 1pm the ‘Grand Depart’ took place which offered a chance to follow the elite racers out from the start line and then around a pre-determined route taking in the Riverside Road, Infinity Bridge, Princess Diana Bridge linking Stockton to Thornaby and back to the Riverside where a variety of family friendly activities were available to entertain adults and children alike.

After picking up our passengers, we parked at the Tees Barrage and rode along the River Tees to get to the start line on Riverside Road, where we found the start line for the family fun ride. We waited for the official start time before we set off on the main route with hundreds of other riders of all ages. The trishaw got a lot of attention, including in-jest accusations of cheating because of the battery assist. We spoke to so many people, waved at even more and saw many more smiles during our festival adventure, it was a fantastic experience.

After completing the first loop, we followed the first half of the route back to the Infinity Bridge to make our way back to McChadwick the minibus nut not before we stopped to get some photographs in some key locations.

Here’s hoping that we can be a part of the 2023 Cycling Festival and offer this community cycling opportunity to some more members of the local community who might otherwise not get to participate.
