Hand In Hand Activities Director, Phil Keene, was among the throng of volunteers eager to experience piloting the trishaw and once he boarded the pilot seat it was incredibly difficult to get him off it!

This is what Phil had to say about his afternoon with the Cycling Without Age trishaw:

”What a fantastic experience! When I was asked if I would like to take the pilot seat of the trishaw I felt a little trepidation, but that soon disappeared. In fact, it felt so natural that my two passengers and I were able to chat about the experience and discuss how wonderful it would be to take it on a longer journey.

In the short trips around the park we could really see the potential for forging friendships, reminiscing over the past and enjoying new experiences together. Throughout the afternoon we watched pilots and passengers alike with bright eyes and huge smiles, expressing their love of the fresh air, the conversation and the fun of it all.

It was really sad to see the trishaw move on at the end of the session. How excellent it would be to have a trishaw permanently tackling social isolation in the Stockton area.”

To bring this brilliant initiative to Stockton on Tees, Hand In Hand Activities CIC and friends are working hard to raise £7,000 to purchase the first trishaw of the fleet. We have a Crowdfunder campaign that is running until February 19th and are looking to engage with local residents and businesses to help raise funds, as we have corporate sponsorship packages available.
