Today, we took Trixie Trishaw to Ropner Park as part of our wider Dementia Action Week activities.

We started with a coffee at the Ropner Park Cafe, where we spent some time chatting to some park regulars about the project. We also bumped into a member of staff from one of our funders, Tracy from Groundworks, who came over to gather some more information on the areas that we cover and some chitchat about the project generally.

Next, we rode around the park to take some photographs while the park was quiet. While riding, a few of the people using the park facilities stopped us to chat about the trishaw and find out more about the project.

After that, the day turned into an impromptu introductory training session. Caroline, a member of the HIHA team, had not rode a bike in the best part of 60 years but decided to have a go at piloting the trishaw while the park was quiet. Just a quick run through the controls and some time letting her familiarise herself with the set up and we were off around the park. Once we got going, Caroline really enjoyed it and was amazed by how easy it is to ride and control the trishaw. After a couple of laps around the park, taking some time to make a few videos ,we called it a day.

Another good day out with Trixie and another pilot in the making. Well done, Caroline!
