Great news – a little while back Hand In Hand Activities CIC applied to the National Lottery Awards For All funding stream to help to get the Stockton on Tees Chapter of Cycling Without Age off the ground. We are now pleased to announce that our funding application has been successful and we will soon be able to employ a part time Project Coordinator who focus on the growth and development of the project over the coming 12 months.

The funding also means that we will be in a stronger position to train local volunteers to pilot the trishaw, hopefully have someone available to raise awareness of the project though participating in local VCSE meetings and contact potential beneficiaries of the service. In addition to this, we can also increase the number of route-finding rides that we can take each weeks to build confidence in the local trishaw-friendly cycle paths, roads and community spaces.

The team are working behind the scenes to deliver awareness events in a range of local parks following on from the success of our launch event in August. We hope that over the coming months we will be able to work with local councillors to identify suitable spaces (e.g. parks and green spaces) where we can safely deliver trishaw rides and engage with the public about our services.

In the meantime, if you know of somewhere that is trishaw-friendly or can suggest any cycling routes that are suitable for Trixie then please do get in touch.
